Abu Afas was born at Nowy Dwòr Stud, Poland in 1947. He was exported to GDR in 1956.

Abu Afas was the sire of the famous Comet (1953) who was chief progenitor of Kuhailan Afas or.Ar. line in Poland.

Abu Afas was also the sire of the mares Sakwa (1953), Sabellina (1954) - winner of Derby and Oaks, Canberra (1954), all exported to the U.S.A., and Salome (1953) - exported to France. Sabellina was, as mentioned above, winner of Derby and Oaks and in 1969 exported to the US. She was foundress of a great family of performers and stakes winners (12). Sabellina was the dam of Sabbat (1964) - Derby winner and used at Michalow Stud, Sambor (1965) - exported to the US where he became US Race Champion and multi-halter champion and originator of the most important racing line in the United States today, Sabalgo (1969) - exported to the US and the mare Santa (1960) - Derby and Oaks winner.
